January 2008 -- Des Moines/Council Bluffs, IA -- Utility Partners of America was awarded the balance of the current AMR installation project for Mid American Energy and Itron. The initial award of nearly 1 million meters has now been increased to 1.4 million meters with the addition of the Council Bluffs and Des Moines, Iowa phases of the project. UPA is now the exclusive contractor for the entire installation scheduled to continue through the Spring of 2010.
December 2007 -- Orlando, FL -- Awarded contract with Orlando Utilities Commission. This project is a continuation of a 3 year deployment successfully completed in December 2007. The new phase of the project is a 2 year contract with 3 optional annual extensions. This project includes water meter exchanges, backflow testing on meters and installation of new water meters.
November 2007 -- Columbia, SC -- Contract with SCANA Services, Inc. This project includes 36,000 gas meter retrofits and 61,000 electric meter exchanges in addition to GPS point collection. The project continues through June 2008. UPA is providing its own ALS installation software.
November 2007 -- Parsons, KS -- Contract with Actaris Liquid Measurement, LLC, a division of Itron. The project calls for the replacing of approximately 4700 water meters as well as GPS collection. The project will conclude in January 2008. UPA is providing its ALS installation software and data interface services for the project.
August 2007 -- Utility Partners of America (UPA) received its Utility Contractor License for the State of South Carolina. The Utility Contractor's License will allow UPA to perform all phases of overhead and underground utility construction as well as all phases of infrastructure development and services. The company intends to increase the list of states in which it is licensed and to utilize all licenses to expand its list of services offered to client utility companies. UPA has identified outsourcing of non-core business practices from utility companies as a significant growth opportunity.
August 2007 -- Utility Partners of America (UPA) was awarded an unlimited General Contractor's License for the State of South Carolina. This license will assist UPA in future expansion of its home services programs as it allows the company to perform all phases of construction -- commercial and residential -- including further development of its HVAC program. UPA's home services includes water heater repair or replacement, in-home electrical coverage, in- home water line repair, outside water line repair and indoor drain repair.
July 2007 -- Utility Partners of America Inc. (UPA) recently signed an installation contract with Itron on behalf of MidAmerican Energy Company for the installation of nearly 1 million gas and electric meters. The project is slated to begin in August 2007 and be completed in 36 months. MidAmerican Energy Company is the largest utility in Iowa and was recently named the #1 utility in the country for industrial customer satisfaction by TQS research.
June 2007 -- Utility Partners of America Inc. (UPA) announced it has been awarded a contract for the installation of 25,000 water meters with automated meter reading (AMR) technology for the City of Charleston, SC. UPA will utilize its ALS installation software for the project and anticipates a start date of September 2007, with completion in mid 2008.
June 2007 -- Utility Partners of America Inc. (UPA) announces successful installation of over 40,000 water meters equipped with automated meter reading (AMR) technology for the City of Raleigh, NC. A second installation project will begin in July 2007 to be completed in January 2009 and includes an additional 120,000 meters. UPA will utilize its ALS software for the installation project.
March 2007 -- Utility Partners of America, Inc. (UPA), a premier utility service provider headquartered in Greenville, SC was recently awarded the installation contract for Montana-Dakota Utilities Co, a division of MDU Resources Group, Inc. UPA will begin installation of nearly 300,000 gas and electric utility meters in April 2007. The meter installation project will enable Montana-Dakota Utilities Co to provide its customers with state of the art service and accuracy on future readings through the use of AMR technology. The project is anticipated to last 18 months. Montana-Dakota Utilities Co. generates, transmits, and distributes electricity and distributes natural gas in Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wyoming
February 2007 -- Utility Partners of America Inc. (UPA) was recently awarded the contract for a large water meter project for the City of Montgomery, Alabama. UPA will retrofit approximately 55,000 water meters with new automated meter reading technology over the course of 12 months. The project will begin in March 2007.
