UPA Celebrates Electrical Vehicle (EV) Charging Station Launch
40 Stations Go Live in South Carolina with More to Follow
Utility Partners of America (UPA), one of the nation’s largest utility solutions providers, recently celebrated the opening of 40 public electric vehicle (EV) charging stations across South Carolina. UPA serves as the exclusive installation and support partner for the initiative, which is spearheaded by Plug In Carolina, an organization dedicated to promoting the adoption of plug-in technology.
A ceremony recognizing the achievement was held on December 8, 2010, on the steps of the South Carolina Statehouse. Multiple automotive companies showcased plug in vehicle technologies at the event, which featured a ribbon-cutting ceremony and a workshop on the 2011 Clean Cities Grant Submission.
EV drivers will be able to “refuel” in as little as 10 minutes at publicly-accessible charging stations situated in municipal parking garages, public streets and participating retailers in seven South Carolina host cities. To date, stations have been deployed in Columbia, Rock Hill, Spartanburg, and Union. Next up, cities slated for deployment include: Blythewood, Charleston, Lockhart, Myrtle Beach, and North Myrtle Beach.
UPA is proud to help South Carolina realize the vision of providing a clean, independent fuel choice to the market. The company is committed to championing the adoption of EV vehicles through readily-accessible, user-friendly charging station technology.
